THE HUG TEST
In this practice, you only need time and attention.
Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a hug. I want you to thank yourself for something very specific,
something you are genuinely thankful for.
You, as the hugger, the giver of the hug, the one who's thankful, are thanking you for something very specific. Really get in there!
Give a little more squeeze with your right hand.
Give a little more with your left.
As you hug and thank, how much gratitude are you expressing?
How big does it feel? How full? Rich? Authentic? How does your body feel in your arms?
Take as much time as you can with this. I want you to have a really good perspective on how REAL the gratitude feels to GIVE. Measure it however you can.
When you are ready, we are going to shift perspectives. Now observe as the receiver of the hug.
You are being thanked. You are being hugged with appreciation.
As the receiver of the hug, how able are you to RECEIVE gratitude?
Can you perceive how authentic the gratitude is? Can you feel the gratitude in the hug? How does the hug physically feel wrapped around you? How much do you believe this gratitude? Can you feel how much the gratitude is true?
Take as much time as you can with this. Get some perspective on how this FEELS.
Right now we are just taking an inventory, measuring as best you can how it feels. Memorize in as much detail as you can everything you notice.
Once you feel satisfied with your understanding of both perspectives, it's time to play!
Do something with movement that feels good and is fun
FOR YOU for 10-30 minutes.
Do the hug test again.
Thank yourself for the same thing you did at the beginning of this practice. Ask the same questions.
As the hugger thanking you, how big does that gratitude feel now?
As the receiver, how big and authentic does the gratitude feel now?
